Special Design Procedure for High Heels

G5 characters can be dressed up with custom clothes, including gloves and shoes; however, the high heels of a character may need more modification so that the floor contact can work properly. In this section, you learn how to skin the shoes to the character and how to relocate the floor contacts.

A Comparison of Flat and High-heeled Shoes

In T-Pose, the shoes of the male and female characters are respectively flat and high-heeled as shown below:

Male character with flat shoes.

Female character with high heels.

Skinning the High Heels

You are only allowed to adjust the relative position of the Toe and Foot bones; and manually modify the height of these two bones according to the the tip of the shoe.

Before skinning the high heel meshes to the bones, you need to follow the steps below:

  1. Unlink the toe bone from the foot bone.
  2. Adjust the height of the toe bone to align with the tip of the high heel.
  3. Make sure the toe bone is selected and then link it back to the foot bone.
  4. After the modifications, you will notice that the positions of the floor contacts are changed as well.
  5. Line up the floor contacts so they will be at the same horizontal height.
  6. Skin the high heel to the toe bone.

Note:

Never directly rotate the Foot bone to fit into the shoes meshes because you may cause the local x-axis of the foot bone to misalign. Remember that it needs to maintain a position perpendicular from the ground.
